Let’s talk about having your St. Simons Island family portraits in the spring vs. the fall.  I’ve been a St. Simons Island family photographer for almost 12 years now, and every fall, I see the same thing happening over and over. Everyone is scrambling to schedule their family portraits in for the year and then the rush is on to hurry and get those holiday cards designed and ordered. It’s just so stressful, am I right? We live in beautiful coastal Georgia and we are so fortunate to have some pretty amazing weather almost year-round.

The Weather

The best thing about Spring is the weather! We don’t have to worry about keeping kids happy in the 90-100 degree weather of summer, or keeping them warm in the chilly and windy late fall and winter months. Azaleas are in bloom, sea oats on the beaches are starting to bloom, everything is green and beautiful.

We are also free from shiny faces, melting makeup, and sweating through clothes that come with the summer. The spring has the best weather of the year with pleasant temperate days keeping the whole family comfortable while I work my magic!

Your Favorite Photographer Is Available

In years past, many families wait until September before they start thinking about booking their family portraits. My fall sessions are typically booked up by early to mid summer because past clients know how quickly my fall schedule fills up.

The later in the year, the more likely it becomes that you may have to work around my full schedule instead of choosing a date that works best for your schedule.

I haven’t let most families in on the secret of how wonderful Spring sessions are, so I have a lot more dates and times available in April and May than I do in the fall. Which means right now is the very best time to book your family session!

Spring Portraits Are A Truer Reflection Of Who Your Family Is

Whew. That was a hard one to come up with to summarize! THIS is the single most important reason why I believe you should have your family portraits photographed in the spring.

Here in South Georgia, 90% of the year, we are dressed in warm weather clothing. Sundresses, tshirts, shorts, flip flops, etc. So little of the year is spent in jeans, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes. If we are going to help you create some beautiful portraits of your family that will hang on your wall, wouldn’t you want them to reflect the pretty colors of spring and be a more accurate representation of the way you and your family dress/look the majority of the year?

I think Spring should be the new Fall. Let’s make it happen. Reach out today to find out more about how I can make getting your SPRING portraits so easy. From professional hair and makeup, to wardrobe for your entire family (no shopping!), to helping you figure out just what to do with those beautiful family portraits we will create. I’ve got you!

And although this post is about the 3 reasons why you should have your family portraits in the spring, I’m on a roll so let’s go ahead and give you a 4th reason! REASON #4: Remember those holiday cards I mentioned in the beginning of this blog post? Yeah, those. We can get those beauties designed and ready for you before Summer even arrives. Then once the holiday rush hits and all of your friends are running around silly trying to schedule their family portraits and design their holiday cards, you can simply drop those bad boys into the mail and sit back by the fire and enjoy a hot cup of cocoa and pat yourself on the back for being proactive earlier in the year.

Contact me HERE asap so that we can get you into the studio and start planning your own beautiful spring portraits.

Until next time,

xo, Candace
